Singing Through Stigma with Nora Woofenden

What do you get when you give two music therapy and mental health counseling grad students a microphone, a home, and a free night? Ever so casually jamming after one of their classes at Lesley one afternoon, Nora and Morgan (whose duo name is Norgan) noticed how their songs reflected the material they’re studying… that is, the complicated process of being human. With songs ranging from mental disorder diagnoses to psychotherapy treatment theories, the themes of the music will move from validating suffering into exploring the option of healing, noting how all of us contain both struggles and strengths. We're excited to share an empowering night of singing through the stigma of mental illness and therapy with you, but as always "take what you need and leave the rest." ♥ Harmonies included, but of course! Nora just so happened to write her thesis on this topic. :) Performed so far in Cambridge MA, Providence RI, and online… just let us know if you’d like us to bring the show to your area!
